Hi. I'm PhilWolff. I blog at [http://skypejournal.com Skype Journal] now, an independent publication. I have a question. Where are all the phreaks? It's time to mashup Skypenet. Skype has multiple modes: p2p chat, p2p voice/voiceconferencing, and, in a few weeks, p2p video conversation. This fall, Skype will also host app-to-app messaging via Skype clients. These media are the fast versions of leisurely social media, like blogs (text), podcasting (voice, skypecasting), and vlogging (videoconf). Real time, immediate, content creation in a social context. I'm sending someone to the Skype Developer's Summit in Estonia in a few weeks. What do you need from the next Skype API? They're asking for direction. * What information do you want from a conversation? * From the Skype white pages cloud? * What do you want to manipulate and control? * Do you want control over the Skype client's UI? * Do you want a server version, sans UI? * Could you build a bank using the billing/payment API? * What do you need to add value before, during, and after a conversation? * What forms of presence and identity must Skype to support to make your day? What gets your phreak on? see also: * [http://www.skypejournal.com/blog/archives/2005/04/skype_journal_g.php Guide to the Skype Plug-In Architecture] * [http://share.skype.com/share/developer_blog/ Skype developer blog] * [http://share.skype.com/developer_zone/developer_blog/mac_os_x_api_now_available/ Skype API for Mac OS X] * [http://share.skype.com/developer_zone/documentation/api_v1.3_documentation Skype API 1.3 documentation] * [http://share.skype.com/developer_zone/documentation/skype_api_for_linux/ Skype API for Linux]
