KaPingYee asks: How can we make multicandidate elections more democratic? Many political scientists believe that plurality elections such as the U. S. presidential election are a poor method for choosing a single winner. There are many other voting methods that have been suggested; Hare (also called "instant run-off" or IRV), Borda, Approval, Schulze, and Tideman are among the more popular proposals. Ping will describe what these are and present a graphical visualization of data from simulations of these voting methods that offers some new insight into how they behave. See http://zesty.ca/voting/.
